TMUXHS4212: 1.8V Mode

Hi,

The datasheet of TMUXHS4212 mentions 1.8V mode for Vcc on page 4, but it's not clear to us if we can supply the chip with 1.8V and use it as a USB 3.0 mux to handle connector flip in a device with a USB-C receptacle. Do we have to introduce a 3.3V rail or can we use 1.8V?

you can still use it as USB3 mux with 1.8v supply. But with 1.8v, make sure common mode voltage is <1.2v, otherwise, external biased voltage is needed for mux.

You can use 1.8V rail in USB applications if the common mode voltage does not exceed 1.2V. You can utilize different AC coupling topologies to ensure this if you are not sure of Vcm in your use case..
