DP83867E: Auto-neg strap setting

Hi Team,

I have two questions on the auto-neg strap setting.

1. As per the DS below, should auto-neg be always set Enabled in gigabit Ethernet? Is it impossible to disable auto-neg in 1000M application?

2. If customer designs RGMII in 100M, is there any performance difference between ANEG_SEL 0 and 1? What should I select for ANEG_SEL?

Hi Ella,

Gigabit ethernet must use auto-negotiation per IEEE standard.

There is no performance difference between ANEG_SEL 0 and 1, so you can use no resistors in the strap circuit to set to mode 0 and save hardware costs.
