DP83826E: Pin 31:Led1 function 10/100Mbps speed

We use LED0 for the "link/activity" and LED1 to indicate the "10/100" speed.

DP83826E works in BASIC mode: can the function of LED1 on pin31 for 10/100 speed be set with Strap1 and also with register?

Which register should be used? Should I just set bit 3-0 of the LEDCFG Register (Address = 0x460) or are there other registers I should set?

I tried strap1 via pull-up resistor but it doesn't seem to work.
Pin description fuction in basic mode says: "Pin31 -Transmit errors: The pin acts as TX_ER as default. This pin can be configured to LED1 thru register configuration".
It does not say as in ENHANCED mode : "The pin can be configured to act as LED1 using strap or register configuration".

Do you have any suggestions?

Hi Robert,

In basic mode, LED1 can only be configured using register 0x304. There is a mistake in the datasheet that shows register 0x304 bits[2:0] are read only. These bits are actually r/w and will be updated in the next revision of the datasheet.
