TPD1E0B04: USB2.0 DN/DP Line?

Part Number: TPD1E0B04
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ESD122, TPD1E04U04, TPD1E01B04

Hi,

Please see below customer question:

I reviewed TI TVS diode to use USB2.0 DN/DP line.

Part Number : TPD1E0B04DPLR  X2SON-2

Can it use USB2.0 DN/DP line?

Why I review the this part, I can’t find that have Low capacitance and small (0603 mm) size TVS.

Similar item TPD1E0B04DPLR datasheet in TI, you recommend  DP/DN Line voltage value 0V to 5V.

If we use only DP/DN lines(Do not use control line), Can I use  TPD1E0B04DPLR Item?

(As I know DP/DN Voltage level lower than 3.6V.)

 Thanks,

Antonio

  • Hi Antonio,

You certainly can use TPD1E0B04 for USB 2.0 DP/DN lines. However, this might be a little overkill considering that this is currently our lowest capacitance part supporting speeds over 20 Gbps. For most USB 2.0 DP/DN lines, we usually recommend ESD122. It is a 2 channel 3.6 V device in an 3-pin X2SON package (0.6 mm x 1 mm) with 0.2 pF of capacitance. It also has double the IEC 61000-4-2 rating of TPD1E0B04.

However, if you are wanting to stick to single channel, you can use either TPD1E01B04 or TPD1E04U04. Both of these single channel devices come in a 2-pin X2SON package (0.6 mm x 0.3 mm) with very low capacitance and higher IEC 61000-4-2 ratings.

Let me know if any of these work for you.

  • Hi Matt,

    Thank for your answer.

This project was developed already but because TVS item EOL, I look for alternative items.

Maybe I think TPD1E0B04 product would be appropriate for customer, right?

     Thanks,

    Antonio

  • Hi Antonio,

Like I said, TPD1E0B04 could work for this application, but it would not be the best fit. TPD1E01B04 or TPD1E04U04 would be better.
