TCAN1051HV: TCAN1051HV

Part Number: TCAN1051HV

Dear Sir,

When I tested TCAN1051HV, I found that designer let pin 8 floated.

I check TI document, it depicts that when pin 8 is pulled to GND, the device is in “normal” or high speed mode,

when pin 8 is pulled to VCC the device is in a silent or low power standby mode.

I didn't find it this pin 8 is pulled up in internal  or not.

Please give me advice for this pin 8 connection.

Thanks in advance

Jim Yin

  • Hi all,

I found the message for pin8 connection in internal.

The S terminal is also pulled down to force the device into Normal mode if the terminal floats

This is not a question anymore.

    Thanks

    Jim Yin

  • Hi Jim,

Glad you found your answer. I can confirm that this pin has an internal pulldown so the device should remain in normal mode if left floating. Keep in mind that the floating pin may be susceptible to noise if any significant sources are nearby as the pull-down is relatively weak. This should not be an issue in most cases, but for future iterations best practice would be to tie this input to a ground net to increase noise immunity.

Let us know if you have any more questions.

  • Thanks Eric. It is great.
