DS90UB948-Q1: Does 948 support Point to Point architecture like below picture?

Part Number: DS90UB948-Q1

My customer would like to switch to Point to Point from Multi Drop when drawing 948 layout. There is cross in the Multi Drop PCB, which influences the effect of eye diagram. Does our part support Point to Point architecture? Thanks a lot!

  • Hello Hans,

When the DS90Ux948-Q1 in a dual-link configuration, the oLDI channels D0 to D3 carry ODD pixel data, and oLDI channels D4 to D7 carry EVEN pixel data.

There is no other option for dual link Mode.

Nevertheless, the customer can create the two different images and send them to our SER as Odd and Even data.

  • Hello Hamzeh,

    Thank you!

So according to 948 datasheet, D0~D3 is ODD data and D4~D7 is Even data. But as the Point to point architecture, there are 2 pieces of the Drive IC. Each Drive IC control half of the image(Left or right) in TFT. And D0~D3 shall control one Drive ICD4~D7 shall control another Drive IC. That means D0 and D3 shall include even and odd data. Then the conclusion is our 948 cannot support P2P architecture, is my understanding correct, please?

Moreover, could you please help to further comments about "create the two different images and send them to our SER as Odd and Even data"? Many thanks.

    BR,

    Hans

  • Hello Hans,

if you have two drive ICs then this will unfortunately not work!
