TUSB8041: Signal conditioning USB 3.0 hub

Hello,

we want to use the TUSB8041 for a USB 3.0 Hub design.

Now the question is whether the device internally processes the USB signals so that 3m cable length can be connected to both the input and the output. Unfortunately, I could not find a statement about this in the datasheet.

Hi Stefan,

TUSB8041 does retime/redrive the electrical signals on the upstream and downstream ports. 3m cable should be supported. Keep in mind that PCB trace length after TUSB8041 pin will affect performance. What is this application? Are you creating an active cable?

Thank you. That's the answer to my question. We want to upgrade a system from USB 2 to USB 3 and so we want to use the USB-hub chip on a PCB. Thanks also for the hint with the trace lengths...

Hi Stefan,

Please note that a USB 3.0 Hub must be used with a USB 3.0 Host to enable USB 3 on the hub downstream port. USB Hubs do not convert USB2 to USB 3.
