As mentioned in the datasheet design recommendations, Section 8.2.2, it is highly recommended to connect a 0.1uF bypass capacitor on the supply pin close to the device.

Hi Andrew,
To follow up on Sandesh's point, while the 0.1 uF cap is recommended, it is not absolutely required for the device to function. The additional capacitor is just there to give you additional protection on the Vcc line. However, if you want a device that does not have a Vcc line and doesn't require an additional capacitor, I would recommend a device like TPD4E1U06.
