Our customer have to replace the 50'(feet) LVDS video (3 data pair plus clock) cable with a 150' feet version.  No documentation is available and they don't know what LVDS drivers and receivers are in the equipment, yet have been discouraged from taking the equipment apart to investigate.   

To start, they tried a high quality low skew low impedance passive twisted pair cable which didn't work. They saw devices such as LMH0001
/LMH0074, that may be a solution. What is the simplest, ruggedest approach to extend an LVDS 3 data plus clock signal transmission from 50' to 150'? Does SDI's like LMH0074 be enough or LVDS are more appropriate?

    There are two options:

    1) We can use a serializer to mux these three LVDS pair into a serial data stream and send to a device such as LMH0001. Then on the receiving side, LMH0074 output can be connected to the de-serializer. For ser/des function, please take a look at parts such as channel link II devices like DS92LV411/LV412 or DS92LV0421/LV0422.

    2). If this design is already using FPGA, this can be used to do the serialization and then we can use LMH0001 and LMH0074 to extend the reach.
