DS80PCI800: X8 bandwidth could be X1 or X2 or X4

Part Number: DS80PCI800
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS80PCI810

Hi team,

We are designing DS80PCI800 in INTEL's Sandy Bridge platform but we would like to confirm below two questions.

1. Is DS80PCI800 designed ok in below Sandy Bridge platform's convert board?

2. Is there any trace length limited between CPU and Redriver & between Redriver and PCIE device?

We use that CPU‘s PCIEX8 connect user encryption card directly , X8 bandwidth is normal;

but convert board use DS80PCI800(one TX,another RX),the encryption card about 8 inches away from the RX side, final parameters of TX/Rx's eight channels are EQ=0x07,VOD=1.4V,DEM=-1.5dB;  now X8 bandwidth could be X1 or X2 or X4!

We do not know how to adjust these parameters to meet x8 bandwidth normal。Please help us!

Thanks

    "1. Is DS80PCI800 designed ok in below Sandy Bridge platform's convert board? "

    The DS80PCI800 has been used in many applications however we don't know the details of your specific usage.

    "2. Is there any trace length limited between CPU and Redriver & between Redriver and PCIE device?"

    Please refer to Table 2. Equalizer Settings in the datasheet. We cannot say exactly what is the maximum trace length because it depends on many factors such as PCB material, connectors, frequency, etc. We can only say how how much equalization boost the chip provides in dB.

    "We do not know how to adjust these parameters to meet x8 bandwidth normal。Please help us!"

    We recommend starting with the lowest EQ settings and increasing the parameter as needed. We may also recommend part number DS80PCI810, which is on the PCIe integrator list.

    Thank you,
