TPS25830-Q1: DP and DM no connection

Part Number: TPS25830-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25831-Q1

Hello,

My customer is considering using TPS25830-Q1 without using DM/DP pins. In the system DM/DP pins of the connector will be shorted with 200mohm; therefore, the port will be recognized as BC1.2. TPS25830 is configured as both CTRL1 and 2 are 1. Do you think CC1/CC2 control works properly and the DCDC convertor supplies the BC1.2 current?

By the way, TPS25831-Q1 cannot be considered, because why the customer came up with this idea is because of its current tight supply.

Thanks!

Regards,

Oguri

  • Hi Oguri,

I think that should be OK. The shorted resistor should be 200ohm. Because the charging current is up to the device sink requirement. The internal DCDC will not limit the charging current if not beyond the current limit setting.

BTW, some type of phones may not support BC1.2 DCP shorted mode. Like Apple has divider mode, Samsung has 1.2V mode.

I will have a discussion internally to confirm your idea.

  • Hi Oguri,

It is OK. There are some mistakes I need to clarify.

Apple and Samsung can support BC1.2 DCP mode. But for divider mode and 1.2V mode, maybe have a bigger charging current for Apple and Samsung.

    Thanks!
