Hello,

there is some misleading information around on how to configure the DP83826 for EtherCAT:

Datasheet DP83826E/DP83826I page 4: "ENHANCED mode allows the DP83826 to support real-time Ethernet applications in addition to the standard Ethernet applications".
Application report SNLA344A "How and Why to Use the DP83826E for EtherCAT® Applications" in the schematics on page 5 and 6: The phys are configured for BASIC mode.
Forum post https://e2e.ti.com/support/interface-group/interface/f/interface-forum/1013256/dp83826i-some-questions-when-transferring-dp83822i-to-dp83826i: In the resolving answer there is written, that the ENHANCED mode is required for EtherCAT.

Can you tell me which is the proper way to configure it?

Hello Bernd,

Enhanced mode is required for EtherCAT. Application note talks about booting up in normal mode but going to Enhanced mode using SMI (register configuration). Hence the schematic is shown for BASIC mode with added register configuration required for Enhanced mode.
