TUSB4041I: TUSB4041 with TPD3S714

Part Number: TUSB4041I
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPD3S714-Q1

Hi,

We using another protective chip TPD3S714-Q1 .reference:https://e2e.ti.com/support/interface-group/interface/f/interface-forum/1016659/tpd3s714-q1-connection-between-tpd3s714-and-tusb4041/3757063

We wonder how to config TUSB4041 to adapt with TPD3S714

  • Hi,

The TPD3S714 FLT/ output is open drain, do you have a pullup installed on it?  If the active low OVERCURz inputs to the hub are asserted, the hub will report the overcurrent conditions to the host controller.  Can you confirm that if OVERCURz is always high, the PWRON outputs from the hub work correctly?

  • TPD3S714 FLT pin has pull-up resistance, FLT pin is low when the chip is not enabled, but TUSB4041 detects low level, and thinks there is a fault to enable TPD3S714. Is there any way to enable TPD3S714 first?

  • The downstream port power controls of the hub are designed to work with power switches, not a power protection device like the TPD3S714.  The hub will not enable the downstream port power while FLT/ or OVERCURz/ is asserted.
