TUSB320HI:OUT1,OUT2 Pull-up resistor and I/O power supply

Part Number: TUSB320HI
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB320HAI

Hello.

Could you tell me some points about TUSB320HI design.

When using I2C lines as I/O, how large can the pull-up resistors for OUT1 and OUT2 be?
Is there any problem with a resistance of about 200kΩ?

When using the device as I/O instead of I2C, is it OK to set the I/O power supply for pull-up to other than 1.8V or 3.3V?
If both GPIO and I2C are not used, can SDA/OUT1 and SCL/OUT2 be open state?

  • Hi,

I recommend using the latest generation TUSB320HAI. I2C pull-ups should be much stronger than 200k I recommend using a value of 4.7K for I2C mode. The OUT1/2 p[in are open drain so you can chose the pull-up voltage (i.e. 1.8V or .3V). Both pins can be left open if not used.
