TPS25750: two TPS25750s use in no battery circumstance

Part Number: TPS25750

Hi, team,

We promoted TPS25750 to customer. They have below questions.

They have two type C connectors  on their machine and plan to use two TPS25750. There is circumstance that there is no battery inside, so one TPS25750 as source for power out, the other as sink for power in. Is it ok for TPS25750?

Can TPS25750 use CC pins to detect data role of the external plug-in device?

Thansk!

  • Nicole,

The TPS25750 does have the ability to detect the data role of the external device.

What PDO (Voltage and Current) settings does the customer require?  The TPS25750D only provides a 5V output path by default, so some additional circuitry may be needed.

Do you have a block diagram of the system that you can share?

    Thanks,

    Chuck

  • Hi, Chuck.

Below is the block diagram, the left red lines are for power. As mentioned in the post, there are circumstance that there is no battery inside, so one typeC as sink, the other as source.

  • In the case where there is no local power the TPS25750 will power up as a 5V sink and load it's configuration from the configuration EEPROM.  Once this process is completed, the CPU will be able to take over control of the TPS25750 to make any configuration changes that are desired.

The TPS25750 is a good choice for implementation in this system.
