TUSB4041I: Are termination resistors required?

Part Number: TUSB4041I
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB2046B

Are 27ohm termination resistors required for the TUSB4041I?  The datasheet for the TUSB4041I doesn't mention that it has internal termination resistors.  However, in the implementation schematics for the downstream connections, it shows direct connections to the USB type A ports.  I noticed in the datasheet for the TUSB2046 that it requires 27ohm resistors on the P and N signals plus 15K to ground for each.  I'm unsure if I need external termination resistors for the TUSB4041I.

Thanks

Chad

  • Hi Chad,

The series and pulldown resistors are integrated inside the TUSB4041I hub, which is common for most USB HS (480 Mbps) hubs.  The older USB FS hubs (12 Mbps) like the TUSB2046B require external resistors.
