Hi everyone, I'm working on a design when a USB-C controller is needed. The needed specifications are next:

-Dual Role Data (Host and Device behaviour). Video transfer data and files by USB-C.

-Up to 12 V supply (max power as it be posible), only Sink.

I have read about TPS25750 and TPS65987 documentation and I don't know which component is better for my necessities. Which is the better option?

Hi Juanma,

Since you need to transfer video, the TPS65987D would be the better fit. The TPS25750 does not support alternate modes. Keep in mind that transferring video will require support of DisplayPort alternate mode which the TPS65987D has.

Thank you so much for your answer Eric, I have another question about TPS65987. What is the difference between TPS65987D and TPS65987? I have searched about this but I don't find nothing about TPS65987, but it is the chip mounted on TPS65987EVM.

Hi Juanma,

There is no TPS65987 (without "D"). The TPS65987EVM uses the TPS65987D.
