DS90UB948-Q1: BIST mode question

Part Number: DS90UB948-Q1

Hi team

I would like to ask that what should I do when I need 948 enter the BIST mode? If I just enable the pin 5 (BIST_EN) does it enter BIST mode? How to check or verify that 948 has entered the BIST mode, check the status or PASS( pin 7)?

Secondly, I know in BIST mode, 948 will send a BIST signal to serializer like 941, and 941 generate a pattern to 948:

Could I configure the 941 test pattern like 948 pattern generation?

Is the 941 'test pattern' a true picture or just some video frame data? Could we see the test pattern on the display or screen?

  • Hi Zirui,

Yes, if you enable BIST_EN, it will put the SER to DES link in BIST mode. The SER does not actually send proper pat gen data to be output to a display, but actually sends all 0's as described in the section below:

An alternative form of BIST/PATGEN that does output video is to use the PATGEN_BIST_EN bit on 948, when the 941 is set to the same PATGEN output and enabled; either PASS or PATGEN_BIST_ERR can be monitored at 948 to observe/count errors.

    Regards,
