for our Network Video recorder project we want to convert Dual mode DP++ port of Elkhart x6413E processor to HDMI connector output.

Please suggest IC for Display Port Dual mode receiver to HDMI 2.0 transmitter

Specifications:

Accepts Dual mode DisplayPort 1.4 output from Elkhart x6413E processor having. Support for 1/2/4 lanes at 1.62(RBR)/2.7(HBR)/5.4(HBR2) Gbit/sec per lane To

HDMI 2.0 (4K@60Hz) transmitter, up to 6.0Gbit/sec per TMDS data channel.

Not able to decide which type of IC should be used, Retimer or Redriver?

Please take a look at DP159, https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/sn65dp159.pdf, which support DP++ to HDMI2.0.

Hi David,

Thanks for the inputs.

SN75DP159 is a Retimer IC with pricing is $2.614 for 1K.

Can I use TDP158 (Redriver) to get price benefit, because it is 1.69$ for 1K.

What are the merits and demerits between the two.

You can use TDP158 as well. TDP158 is a redriver only, it does not provide adaptive equalizer or jitter cleaning function as the DP159. You can actually co-lay the DP158 and the DP159 so switching between them if needed. Please see this app note, https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sllu291a/sllu291a.pdf
