TUSB320: Design clarification

Part Number: TUSB320
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25895M, ,

We are working on a tablet project. So tablet is using a rechargeable battery and battery is recharging through USB C connector and charging IC used is BQ25895M.

We are using TUSB320 as USB type C cc config IC. So when  our tablet is in working condition, TUSB320 is used as DFP, ID pin will be low and boost output of charging IC BQ25895M will reach the external device connected.

But when tablet is not in working condition, ie tablet has no charge, it should be get charged from external charger. So for the working of TUSB320, which voltage will be connected to the TUSB320 VDD pin, so that at both time UFB and DFB, TUSB320 will works

Please let me know.

  • Hi,

When TUSB320LAI has no Vdd it enters dead battery mode and present the correct CC pin termination to still receive VBUS (allows tablet to charge). This mode is present in DFP mode. IF you want both UFP and DFP operation when VDD is present then the PORT needs to be floating.
