TPS65987D: Missing register/command details in Technical Reference Manual; SLVUBH2B

Dear Team

Question 1: There are lots of register's details missing from the Technical Reference Manual, literature number SLVUBH2B. In which document can I find the full details?

For example I need to have the details of every BITs in registers:

0x34 Active Contract PDO

0x35 Active Contract RDO

0x36 Sink Request RDO

0x78 Received Status Data Block (SDB), specifically internal temperature data format

etc.

Question 2: When I put the Application Customization Tool in debug mode the value of the 0x78 is zero, why? I need to be able to read the TPS65987D internal temperature.

Question 3: In which document can I find the detail information about all commands, including, Reading the ADCs for each channel?

Hi Majid,

These registers correspond to the USB-IF PD Specification document Revision 3 Version 2.0, you can refer to the section 6.4.2 of the document and you will see the fields of the PDO/RDO messages. The SDB fields can also be found on Table 6-50 of the spec.

Initially when the PD controller is booting, some values may be zero if a patch has not successfully been loaded yet or if a PD contract with another device has not been established yet.

The datasheet will describe the ADCIN values that correspond to different values in configuration and the TRM document will contain all of the commands that are supported by the PD controller: https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/slvubh2

Dear Hari

Thanks for answering my first question. I found the detailed information that I need it in the document you mentioned.

In regards to my second question, as you can see in the image bellow, I have an active contract:

But the SDB register is all zero as you can see in following image:

In regards to my third question, I am looking for the 'ADC Read' command, as shown in following image but there is no information in the TRM document about it.

Hi Majid,

Could you please tell me what you see in register 0x79 for the SDB? Also, for the ADC, are you able to get a response when you execute the command? I will work with my team to see if we can find details on this command.

The register 0x79 is also (all fields) zero.

My answer: Yes, I can read all the channels successfully.

I am still waiting on the ACDs command format.

I suspended the use of TI's TPS65987D and TPS55288 in our recent project and waiting on your colleagues to respond.

The ACDs command format, could be related to my other post, to make sure its syntax is up to date.

When I am getting answer for this question? (Why providing the syntax of this command is taking too long?!)

I also no longer pursuing 100 Watts using your chip. (TPS65987D: 100 Watt configuration for USB-C-PD-DUO-EVM - Interface forum - Interface - TI E2E support forums)

Hi Majid,

I apologize for the late response. Unfortunately though after talking to my team about this, it seems like this 4CC is not supported on this device and is for internal testing. Only the 4CCs listed in the TRM would be available for this device. I apologize for the inconvenience.
