TUSB8043A: spec check

Part Number: TUSB8043A

Hi

May I ask this removable setting, in which application will it be different? Will it be affected on Windows 10? Or will all OSs have different effects? Customers usually connect to USB typeA, so they will be set to removable. Want to know if it is not removable, what effect will it have on the application?

  • Hi Gareth,

When a port is set to non-removable, the hub will report that configuration to the host controller as part of its descriptors.  We have seen no impact on the host controller behavior based on that setting.

  • Hi JMMN

    Thanks you kindly reply

“no impact” means setting to either removable or non-removable will not get strange event from OS while device unplug then plug in?

If no impact, what the actual using of this feature?

  • The removable / non-removable setting is defined by the USB specification to determine appropriate power consumption on ports / hubs under different scenarios, but we have only seen host controller drivers use this information for bus powered hubs.
