DS90UB954-Q1: ASIL-B

Part Number: DS90UB954-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90UB953-Q1,

Dear team

Does DS90UB954-Q1/DS90UB953-Q1 have passed ASIL-B certification?

Many thanks

Denny

  • Hello Denny,

What do you mean by ASIL-B certification?! ASIL is a system level requirement not a device certification!

  • Hi Hamzeh,

Echo to Denny's question. For ASIL-B, I know it's system level certification instead of chip level. So customer need to pass the ASIL-B with their total system.

And document that we need to support is below. Is it correct?

    Safety Documentation:

    • FMEA - Provides information on system level failure mechanisms related to the FPD-Link devices at the device block level along with anticipated failure signatures and potential detection mechanisms
      • Pin FMEA - Provides information on pin failure modes: short to GND, short to VDD, pin open, or shorted to neighboring pin
    • IEC TR 62380 FIT Information - Failure rate for pin and package
    • Siemens Norm SN 29500-2 FIT Rate
      • *Select devices: Failure mode distribution (FMD) for block level faults by die area

And for UB960-Q1/UB962-Q1, I find the related words in datasheet. "Functional Safety-Capable – Documentation available to aid ISO 26262 system design"

I'm not sure what does this mean? Does it mean that we can provide same related safety document like 953/954?

For 953/954, we also can add this words on datasheet because we can provide same related safety document, is it correct?

    Regards,

    Roy

  • Hello Roy,

Yes, we do have such documentation available for these parts but there is a long approval process within TI to get the "Functional Safety Capable" or other terminology approved for the datasheet and we are doing this operation on multiple parts at once.

953 and 960/962 have already gone through the full approval process and you can see the latest datasheet on TI.com shows "Functional Safety Capable"

954 is in process still but we have the documentation for this part if the customer needs it.

To submit requests for functional safety documentation, please use the instructions on the Safety page in our fpd/ portal:

    Best Regards,
