DS90UB948-Q1: Unplug the signal line when Pattern Generation Mode

I am not sure what kind of test method is this! Pattern generator is available on both devices, SER and DES. So you may enable any of them at a time to see if that portion of the link is working correctly and debug it. So not sure what you want to achieve from enabling PAttgen and then unplug the cable!

Question: in which device did you enable the pattern generator? Are you using internal clock and timing or external?

The clock is external, and timing is internal.

For aging experiment, the device will work on pattern generator mode and the engineer will unplug the cable between SER and DES.

Therefore, I hope you can help confirm whether the phenomenon is normal.

When standard working mode, we unplug the cable between SER and DES, DES's clock out can be set as low.

However, when working in pattern generator mode, we unplug the cable, DES's clock out will jump randomly in random frequency.

Can you help me confirm this question? And give some explanation on it?

Hello Chris,

We do not test or validate our Patgen function in this way, hence I can't confirm if this is a normal behaviour or not. 

Unpluging the cable during Patgen is ON is out of our test scope!

Or can you give a method on how to test if UB948 and UB947 is disconnected? Can I have a method on changing external clock to internal clock?

Chris,

you can check LOCK pin or register to see if there is a link or not.

on the SER, if the external CLK is stopped the device will switch to the internal clock. But the DES will not do that.

Recently, according to feedback from the customer, it seem that the lock  still keeps high in patgen mode. Therefore, can you help me confirm that which other register can see if there is a link or not.
