Hi,

We have planned for a USB Dock that supports User-configurable Alternate mode using the part TPS65988DH.

Since it is not available in stock, only TPD65988DK is available. Whether it can be used for the design?

Hello,

The TPS65988DK is to only be used in TBT host projects. All other systems should use the TPS65988DH

Hi Adam,

But in User Alternate mode document, it is only mentioned like the DX part series alone
Also, in DH data sheet, there is no detail about the User Alternate mode.

Can you please confirm whether the DH part supports User Alternate mode.

Unfortunately the user alternate mode was removed from the DH devices. It can still support DP alternate modes just not customer user alternate modes. Apologies for the confusion or inconvenience.

Hi Adam,

Is there any series capable of the user alternate mode? below are our needs:

1. source and sink support on both the ports

2. user alternate mode support.

Hi Sai,

I was incorrect, and the DH device does support the user alternate mode operation. You can see it using the application configuration tool, loading an advanced template, and looking at register 0x4a. You can follow the attached document for implementing user alternate modes
