TPD12S521: Leak current when source side is off and sink side (External equipment) is ON.

Part Number: TPD12S521

Hi,
My customer has the following questions.  Could you please answer them?

*1.
According to the following figure.2 on the datasheet P.1, DCLK_OUT signal is pull-up on 5V.  Also, on Sink side, 47kohm pull-up is required on DCLK_OUT.

On the case that Source side (TPD12S521) is power-off and Sink side (outside of HDMI connector) is power-on,  is it possible that leak current is occurred from outside equipment (47kohm pull-up) to TPD12S521 equipment?

*2.
If yes, could you please propose how to protect this leak current?

*3.
According to IBACK DRIVE parameter on datasheet P.5, MAX current is 5uA.  Is this included CEC pin?   On HDMI specification, when source is OFF, CEC leak current is less than 1.8uA.  Can TPD12S521 meet this specification?   Please advise us.

Thanks and best regards,
M.HATTORI

  • Hi M.HATTORI,

    Please see the below comments:

1/2. I think might be due to the internal is intergraded MOS (from in to OUT) with the body diode. But it is up to the DCLK pin of HDMI controller.

    3. Yes, as the table shown.

    Regards,

    Ansel

  • Ansel-san,

    I want to confirm it.

    >> 3. Yes, as the table shown.

Your answer is "IBACLK DRIVE parameter is less than 1.8uA."  Is it correct?

    Also,

    >>On HDMI specification, when source is OFF, CEC leak current is less than 1.8uA.  Can TPD12S521 meet this specification?

Please let us know your comments.

    Thanks and best regards,
    M.HATTORI.

  • Hi M.HATTORI-san,

    >> 3. Yes, as the table shown.

Your answer is "IBACLK DRIVE parameter is less than 1.8uA."  Is it correct?

[AS]: No, I mean is Max-5uA.

    Also,

    >>On HDMI specification, when source is OFF, CEC leak current is less than 1.8uA.  Can TPD12S521 meet this specification?

[AS]: Actually, there is no any spec. for TPD12S521, I think it is determined by he DCLK pin of HDMI controller.

    Regards,

    Ansel
