DS90UB954-Q1: CSI camera data: Strange ghosting of older frames transparently overlapping new frames when used with serializer/deserializer

Part Number: DS90UB954-Q1

Hey,

I use the serializer/deserializer combination DS90UB954/53 with the MIPI-CSI sensor OS08A20 on Jetson NANO.

I got this strange ghosting of older frames transparently overlapping new frames when used with serializer/deserializer. Without changing any configuration when I use the camera directly on CSI port this ghosting is not visible, so I guess it somehow has to come from the serializer/deserializer. Do you guys have any idea what register settings could cause this kind of behaviour? You can see the effect in this video I posted in the NVIDIA Jetson forum. Please have a look! https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/nvarguscamerasrc-ghosting-from-previous-frames/184759

We use clocks at 800Mhz for sensor and serializer/deserializer. The sensor is sending RAW 10bit data in FULLHD and we are streaming with 59fps.
Any help is apperciated!
Best regards,
jb

  • Hello JB,

We have not experienced a ghost image issue. If there is a frozen or blank screen, then we would recommend checking the error bits in the UB954 and maybe the UB953. However, since you are able to transfer the image from the SER to the DES, there shouldn't be an issue with our devices. Our DES is not capable of storing an entire frame of video, so it should not be causing this ghosting effect. We would suggest you please check your camera configuration and other blocks in your system.

    Hope this helps.

    Best Regards,
