TUSB212: TUSB212 several questions

Part Number: TUSB212

Dear team,

i have several questions about TUSB212. please kindly help to answer.

  1. Normally the input signal should be USB signal. If the input signal is UART signal and not USB signal, will the TUSB212 be bypassed automatically?
  2. How the TUSB212 implement the HS detection? You know, we use this part to compensate the input signal if it's HS mode. So for input signal, will we do a signal compensation before the mode detection? If the input signal is HS and its quality is low, will that affect the HS detection?

Thanks.

  • 1. Correct, TUSB212 will not enter its HS mode

    2. This detect is based on USB 2 HS enumeration. USB 2 HS enumeration is a specific sequence of low speed signals that normally does not need any compensation. Why are you considering compensation at this stage?

  • Hi Malik,

    2. i mean if the input is HS signal, but its signal quality is low, can our device detect it as HS successfully?

Actually, we are doing system level signal integrity evaluation in customer system. And we would like to know how do we implement the AC boost and DC boost. Do we amplify the current signal or voltage signal for AC/DC boost? What's the simple equivalent circuit model of our TUSB212?

  • Hi,

Yes the enumeration process does not use HS data until after the process is complete. HS will be entered and compensated before HS data is on the bus.

I cannot share details on this in E2E due to NDA. In summary,  AC boost compensates for the capacitive losses in traces and cables while DC boost compensates for IR losses primarily found in long USB2 cables. There is no simple equivalent circuit model for this device. A model does exist for this part under NDA.
