TPS65987D: Grounding PP_HVx

Part Number: TPS65987D

Hello,

The USBC port on my design is a downstream (device) port and does not sink or source VBUS. The datasheet says to ground the PP_HVx pins if not used.  Do I ground these pins for this mode of operation?  Is there a risk of shorting VBUS to ground?

Thanks,

Michael

  • Michael,

If they are unused and configured this way in the GUI, then there is no risk in grounding them.  This is the best way to limit leakage power.

The part will not be damaged even if configured correctly, because it will detect this state as a hard short and disable the port.
