TUSB1044: Will the TUSB1044 work as a USB-C sink for DisplayPort and USB 3 breakout connectors

Part Number: TUSB1044
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB1064, TUSB564

I'm looking for an alternate chip to the TUSB1064 for use on a device that would split it to a DisplayPort connector and USB 3 (USB3.1 + 2 Lane DP). I was looking into the TUSB1044 but was not sure if it will work for this purpose since the only examples I could find in the datasheet section 8.3.2 as well as the dev board showed the output only routed to a USB C.

Can the TUSB1044 in sink mode be used exactly like the TUSB1064? What are the differences between the two IC's?
