TPS65988: USB 3.1 + 2 lane DisplayPort 2 detection

Dear TI,

I am working on a DFP USB Type-C device and need to be able to detect when a connected UFP device requires USB + 2 lane DisplayPort using TPS65988 so that it can correctly configure a USB Type-C alternate mode switch. Looking at the TPS65987D GPIO Events document, what combination of events can be used to uniquely determine this mode?

Hi,

You can use the 'Port x DP Mode Select Event' to indicate the DP mode and then read the DP SID Status register (0x58) for additional details on the DP connection.

Thanks for the suggestion - we will not have an MCU in the system that can read the registers. Is there any way to determine the USB + 2 lane DisplayPort using only TPS65988 events? To me it seems that a combination of Port 0 AMSEL Event and Port 0 DP Mode Select Event can be used to determine the exact mode.

You are correct. These two GPIO output events can be used.
