DS90UB948-Q1: Question on I2C communication between SER/DES

Part Number: DS90UB948-Q1

Dear all,

This is Chris.

Recently my customer is using UB948 as DES and UB941 as SER. And they now meet a problem on the I2C communication between them.

They would like to set Ser and Des as main I2C at the same time but they concern that there will be a conflict on the bus.

Therefore, I hope you can give me some suggestion on it and can our DES support multi-host arbitration mechanism?

If you have any question, pls feel free to let me know.

Thanks and best regards!

Chris

  • Hi Chris,

    Thank you for reaching out to us. I would happy to assist you. Can you provide me the following information?

    1. How many devices attach on the I2C bus? What is their respective I2C addresses?
    2. What is the register value for 0x0C, 0x03 on 941AS?
    3. Can you read the register locally on 948 side? If yes, please read register 0x1C.
    4. It would be nice if you can provide register dump for both devices.

  • Hi Aaron,

    Thanks for your kindly help.

    1. How many devices attach on the I2C bus? What is their respective I2C addresses?

                 2, UB0941 with a SoC and UB948 with a MCU;

                 And recently SoC and MCU are host, which means that there is no address.

    1. What is the register value for 0x0C, 0x03 on 941AS?

               0x0C: 0x47;

               0x03: 0x9A.

    1. Can you read the register locally on 948 side? If yes, please read register 0x1C.

               0x1C:0x23;

    1. It would be nice if you can provide register dump for both devices.

              Sorry that the customer cannot do so.

    Thanks and Best Regards!

  • Hi Chris,

    I see there is DSI and CRC error. Do you know if you are using external clock reference or DSI clock? Can you read the 941AS register 0x56?
