TUSB321: Cable Support

Part Number: TUSB321

Hello E2E,

On the TUSB321 datasheet, I saw a comment regarding USB Cables supported.

Type-C Specification 1.1 defines several cables, plugs and receptacles to be used to attach ports. The TUSB321

device supports all cables, receptacles, and plugs. The TUSB321 device does not support e-marking.

Does this mean that cables that do have e-marking will not work? Can you please clarify or provide suggested cables to use?

Thank you!

Russell

  • Hi Russel,

First I recommend using the most recent version TUSB321AI. E marked or active cables are support. E-markers operate over the power delivery (PD) protocol where our device does not interact with PD messaging. TUSB321AI does need (and have) the ability to apply VCONN on the "unused CC pin to power the Emarker however TUSB321AI cannot be used as a Emarker.
