DP83867IR: cannot link up, when force 100M

Hello,

Everything looks good in auto-negotiation mode, the link is good. But when they auto-negotiation off and force DP83867 to 100M speed, it cannot link with PC.

The register 0x0010 = 0x4040, if he changed to 0x4440, it can't be written . The register 0x0011=0x7b02.

He also tried to loopback test, and configure 0x0016 to 0x1，0x2，0x3，0x4,0x8 , there is no problem but if configured 0x0016=0x10, setting external loop, it couldn't link up. And the 0x0043 bit6 isn't written too. Could you please help to analyze?

Thank you for the query.

Force 100M

Customer should be able to configure the force 100M using 0x0 = 0x2100.

Any reason for customer to configure 0x0010.

Does the customer want to force MDI/MDIX? If yes please ask customer to ensure the configuration of the cable used matches the device configuration. May be customer can start with default (enabled).

Could you please ask customer to read register 0x4/0x5. Check if these registers show 00M capability on PHY and link partner side?

Additional questions

Are the 100M link pulses observed?
What is RX_CLK freq (is it 25 MHz to reflect forcing to 100M)?

We could have a look at the schematics based on customer requirement.

Thank you for your reply, the customer configured the 0x0000=0x2100, 0x0004=0x1e1,0x0005=0, link partner is PC and configured the force 100M Full duplex mode。 The problem is that if he configured the auto-negation mode 100M, it has no problem and has been linked up, I am wonder if there is problem of the RX_CLK?

If i understand correctly, forcing the device to 100M does not work - is that correct ?

Would the customer be ok to share the schematics for review?

Yes, you understanding is right, when forcing the device to 100M and it couldn't link. But according to the customer's feedback, when worked auto-negation mode, first it could link up, but wait for a time, it couldn't work abnormally again.

I would ask the customer to provide the schematic.
