DS90UB933-Q1: DES error register

Part Number: DS90UB933-Q1

Hello team,

Our customer use 933-954 configuration.

Customer found the 933's DES error register set "1" (0x0C bit1=1). After that they checked 0x0A and 0x0B then they found 2 CRC errors happened during normal operation. The SER and DES is LOCK status.

They only found this in one unit. Regarding with other unit, they have not seen any DES error. So they want to know the reason of this.

The number of CRC errors are only 2, so I suspected the signal margin so they check 933 PCB, 954 PCB, connector spec, cable spec, and MAP tool.

Q. Is there any other thing which I should confirm?

Q. How can we distinguish whether the reason is "signal margin" or "device itself"?

Thanks,

Yuta Kurimoto

  • Hi Yuta,

You can check the backchannel eye opening, may give some good information on the signal quality. You can check it at different places to see where the eye is starting to close.  As there only being two CRC errors it is possible that they occur prior to the link being fully stable.  Maybe let it run for a significant amount of time to see if the errors persist.

    Regards,

    Nick
