DS80PCI402: Min/Max spec for VTX-DIFF-PP (VOD) on 1.4Vpp setting

Part Number: DS80PCI402

DS80PCI402 datasheet page-8 is described VTX-DIFF-PP (VOD): 0.8V_min to 1.2V_max

I guess that above VOD: 1.0V setting, and variation is ±20%.

Is it correct?

Please let me know about VOD variation in the case of VOD: 1.4V setting.

【Background】

One DS80PCI402 board tested on VOD: 1.4V condition, result was 0.8Vpp. 

I want to judge 0.8Vpp device is defect or acceptable operating range by any other points. 

By the way: 1.4V ±20% = 1.12V~1.68V.

    Hi Satochi-San,

    VOD can vary between 0.8V to 1.2V. As long as the VOD is within this range, this should be acceptable.

    When VOD set 1.4V, this setting have no guarantee the VTX-DIFF-PP swing, correct?

    And, the other DS80PCI402 board tested on VOD: 1.4V condition, result was 1.22Vpp for out of the 0.8Vpp ~ 1.2Vpp range.

    Is this board possibility to defect?

    Hi Satoshi,

    It is difficult to say this is a board defect. When measuring 1.22V versus expected 1.2V this may depends on the measurement setup, how VOD is measured, device setup, and scope bandwidth.

    I summarized DS80PCI402 condition and question, please see below;

    【Condition】

    ・This application required VOD (= VTX-DIFF-PP): 1.4V setting

    ・One board measured VOD: 0.8Vpp, the other board measured VOD: 1.22Vpp (Out A+ to Out A-)

         

    ・Datasheet VOD swing range is 0.8Vpp to 1.2Vpp. (I guess VOD: 1.0V setting)

    ・When replace these two board and IC's (A-B-A test), VOD function is depend on implemented IC's. 

    【Question】

    ・Please let me know datasheet recommend VOD swing range the condition of VOD: 1.4V setting.

    ・Additional question, is there any setting for adjust the variation of VOD swing?

    Hi Satochi,

    1). Device has been characterized - across many parts - to have a range of 0.8V to 1.2V. Therefor we cannot specify 1.4V VOD.

    2). Please note table 8-3 of the DS80PCI402 data sheet. Level 13 can provide highest setting.

    I understood specify of VOD: 1.4V.

    By the way, Table 8-3 written VOD: 0.8V to 1.3V setting, not include 1.4V.

    Is VOD: 1.4V setting unusual case on these IC or application?

    Hi Satoshi,

    I had checked other parts as well and was not able to find a device with 1.4V swing. Typical applications require 300 to 750mV swing but i am not sure why your customer is needing 1.4V VOD. Based on my search, we do not have a part with guranteed 1.4V swing.
