Dear Pals,

      I have chose TUSB212 to improve USB signal quality on FR-4 PCB board,I'm confused with the location of TUSB212,near USB PHY or near USB connector or midway?Pls help to solve the question，Thanks！

     More information:1.The USB signal from USB PHY to Connector is far more than 16 inchs which is the maxmum length requirement of USB PHY when not use USB hub or  redriver;

                                 2.According to SLLA392,TUSB212 can pass at least 0.5m AWG28 at condition"Max Post-Channel Loss to Pass (near end eye mask)";It seems that the TUSB212 can be palced nearby USB connector;

    Hi,

    It depends on your design and eye mask requirements. In general if your design uses a external USB connector you will want to place TUSB212 close to the connector. This will ensure you can pass a near end eye mask using up to 3 meter cable. Are you using the following or do you have some internal cabling after the 16 inch FR4 trace?

    Hi Malik,

        There‘s no cabling after the 16 inch FR4 trace in application scenarios,and the USB conncector is used to update software for the machine when pluging USB disk；Another  concern is that the trace length from USB PHY to USB connector in my board is far more than 16inchs,I think it is necessary to add a USB redriver at my usb path to connector；Pls give your suggestion about this situation,Thanks!

    Hi,

    Using TUSB212 will help to extend the allowable trace length here. What is the total length of trace you are expecting? This ill help me give a better recommendation. Any block diagram showing trace length (not required)? What is external cable length you are looking to support for far end eye diagram?

        My explanation about your questions is below,Pls help to check and give me your recommendation,Thanks!

        1.What is the total length of trace you are expecting?

         ---Not exceed Intel's USB2.0 back-panel spec->Maxmum trace length<16inch;

        2.Any block diagram showing trace length (not required)?

        ---Pls see attached figure;

        3.What is external cable length you are looking to support for far end eye diagram? 

        ---External cable not supported,Just support USB disk;

    Understood, L3 is where you want to place TUSB212, in between PCH and external connector.
