TPS65987DDK: Adding additional source capability (5th)

Part Number: TPS65987DDK

It is possible to add a PD5 (PD4) source capability and advertise it. But I cannot find the PDx event to map it to a GPIO. Is there a possibility to map this additional source capability to a GPIO?

Another question: what does PDO TTx negotiated mean?

Thanks,

Christian

  • ...reading helps (got it by myself).

TT stands for truth table and allows to address up to 7/(8) different PDOs.

If there is a different way, I'm still interested.

  • Hi Christian,

If you are asking about adding in extra source PDOs then yes, you should be able to do that via the GUI. Could you please check with your FAE to access this? You will also be able to get the TRM from the FAE which will show the GPIO events.

    Thank you,

    Hari

  • Hi Hari,

thanks for the reply. Actually I'm already using the GUI. The current config is, that we support 4 different voltages (5, 9, 15, 20). The problem is, that the display we need to connect requires 12V. So the easiest for us would be to offer an additional voltage and the PD to output an additional signal (PD4 negotiated). The question is, if there is a different way to output PD4 negotiated except using the "PDO TTx" pins.

    Thanks,

    Christian

  • Hi Christian,

Unfortunately, no the GPIO events shown on the GUI are the only ones supported. Therefore, you will need to use the TTx event or maybe put the PDO that you need in PDO3 or you could use an I2C Master Event which includes the PDO4 option for Source or Sink and send a particular I2C message to another device.

    Thank you,

    Hari
