DS90UB954-Q1: Dual Deserializer Latency

Part Number: DS90UB954-Q1

Hi,

I know the latency of a deserializer is determined by the line buffer, but is there additional time added for a dual deserializer that is taking in 2 streams and combining into 1 MIPI output?

Thanks,

Katie

  • Hello Katie,

Yes, in a system where you have two cameras (A and B) connected to the DES, you may see more latency than a single camera system.

The result is that the system latency that you see for transport from camera A to a processor will be dependent upon the video format that camera A is using, the video format that other cameras in the system are using, the data rate of the CSI TX port on the receiver, and there is a certain random element depending on relative timing between the two cameras.

In round numbers, the short end of the latency will be on the order of one video line, and the long end of the latency will be one video line from camera A, plus the length of the video lines going into the second port, assuming that both ports are in operation.
