DS90UB940-Q1: How to detect that the device(such as HDMI device) is plug in to the serializer side?

Dear TI team

I want to know how to detect that the device(such as HDMI device) is plug in to the serializer(such as DS90UB949,DS90UB983)?

our design is as below:

HDMI DEVICE -> serializer(DS90UB949 OR DS90UB983)->DS90UB940->AP

Is there any interrupt to notice the AP from DS90UB940,when the HDMI device is plug in?

1) this is a public forum, so please do not ask here questions about road map devices.

2) I am not sure if I understood your question!! Do you mean that you want your HDMI SER to show if a HDMI source is pluged in to it or not? or do you mean that the DES should show if the HDMI source is pluged into the SER?

I mean the DES(DS90UB940) how to know if the HDMI source is pluged into the SER,

and is there interrupt to notice the AP that connect to the DES?

Hello Wang,

No there is no Interrupt function from the SER to inform the AP that it was connected to an HDMI source.

Nevertheless, your AP can monitor the DES reg 0x34[6] which indicates that the DES is now receiving a valid video signal which means the SER is receiving and HDMI signal from the source.

IT looks that DES reg 0x34[6] is to set the operating conditions for indication of RX_LOCK.

Do you mean set 0x34[6] to 0, and then to monitor the lock pin status?

Does the LOCK pin can be used as Interrupt?

Hello Wang,

yes you are correct, and appologize for the confusion!

You need to set reg 0x34[6] to 0 and then monitor LOCK pin. Once there is a valid HDMI signal at the SER, DES LOCK will go high and keep high until loosing the connection to the SER or the SER doesnot have HDMI input.
