DP83640T-EVK: how to realize 1588 protocol

Hello,

Our customer bought the DP83640T-EVK demo and wanted to use STM32F4 and DP83640 to realize 1588 clock sync. He has downloaded the snlu049.zip reference library, but he didn't know what he need to transplant to the project of STM32. He found that the ST official provided the 1588 program which need to transplant LWip and FreeRTOS, and then connected Ethernet PHY, using STM32 hardware itself to realize PTP sync. But if he wanted to use DP83640 which has 1588 function, what does he need to do?

    Hello Kailyn, 

    Thank you for the query.

    The DP8340 has hardware timestamp capability to improve time accuracy.. The software tme stamping if currently implemented has to be replaced with hardware timestamp.

    Please refer to the phyter software development guide to start with in the ZIP file to start with.

    Does SM32 PHY interface  to an Ethernet PHY currently? If yes which PHY and what interface. You will have to start by making the ethernet interface work before adding the 1588 interface.

    Please refer to the DP83840 datasheet for understanding the DP83640 1588 PTP capabilities.
