SN65DP159: What are the differences between SN65DP159 and TDMS181?

Part Number: SN65DP159
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDS181

Hi Team,

My customer wants to replace TDMS181 with SN65DP159. Does the schematic and Driver code need to be changed?Any  things should take into consideration?

Best regards,

  • Hi,

The DP159 is AC coupled input and intend to be used with a AC-coupled HDMI or DP++ source. The TMDS181 is a DC-coupled input and intend to be used with a DC-couple HDMI source.

You can replace the TMDS181 with the DP159, but you have to add AC coupling caps and 50ohm to 3.3V termination on the input. When you add 50ohm termination to 3.3V, the input signal amplitude will be cut in half which the source has to compensate.

    Thanks

    David
