TCAN1057A-Q1: Silent Mode Pin to GND

Part Number: TCAN1057A-Q1

Hey Team,

I am looking at the TCAN1057A-Q1 datasheet, which shows a "S" pin for silent mode. The datasheet says that we can use a pull-down to keep device in normal mode operation.

I'm wondering if we are able to simply tie this pin to ground to cut down on components? If not, what would be a typical resistor value for this pull-down (using 2kOhm currently)?

Best,
Dajon McGill

  • Hi Dajon,

Yes, it is fine to tie the S pin directly to ground to leave the device perpetually in operational mode. This pin does have an internal pull-up so this will cause some higher leakage (up to 20uA) which can be limited by an external resistor. 2k-ohm would be fine here, but it may also be grounded directly if this extra current is acceptable to reduce BOM count.
