ONET4211LD: Optical output control

Please tell me how to use ONET4211LD.

I want to change the optical output (mW) of the laser diode connected to the ONET4211LD from the host CPU, etc.
Is it possible with this IC?

Yes though controlling modulation current you control output power. Please refer to APC - Automatic Power Control - discussions in the data sheet.

In the product feature item of ONET4211LD
"Modulation Current Programmable From 5 mA to 85 mA"
There is a notation.

We recognize that this "Programmable" and APC are different.

A change in output (mW) is recognized as a change in Modulation Current.

Modulation Current is determined by It recognizes the resistor "R MODSET".

If I change this resistance value, the output (mW) will change.
I was aware.

Is it wrong?

Also, can ONET4211LD be used with both FP-LD and DFB-LD?

Your understanding is correct.

Yes ONET4211LD can be used with FP and DFB lasers. Please refer to these lasers specifications for details.
