TUSB2036: Will it support SPI is 20MHz and I2C is 1.34MHz

Hi,

You will need a 6MHz crystal or a 48 MHz oscillator, not both.  You can select 6MHz or 48MHz using the MODE pin.  If it is low, a 6 MHz crystal should be used.

See above block daigram, USB HUB connected to two FTDI devices. one of FTDI part will communicate with SPI 20MHZ clock speed with different IC.

so this USB will support 20MHz speed?.

The speed of the TUSB2036 is the same whether 6 MHz crystal or a 48 MHz oscillator is used.  The TUSB2036 is a full speed hub only, not a high speed hub so the FT2232 and FT4222 will connect to the hub at USB full speed (12 Mbps) not USB high speed (480 Mbps).  You will need to check with the device vendor on if that will impact the SPI / UART speeds those devices can support.

1. regarding above your comment, you are stating that HUB will support 12Mbs only, but HUB will support 48Mhz clock, right. so data speed can not be 24Mbps?

2. if this HUB will support 48MHz operation  with 6MHz crystal connected, than shall i remove 48MHz oscillator from my circuit?.

can you suggest any high speed HUB?

TUSB4020BI or TUSB4041I are TI's only USB 2.0 HS hubs.

I have done the design with TUSB4020BI, can you please review it and let me know if any suggestion.

Schematic feedback:

• The USB 2.0 lines should be connected DM to DM and DP to DP, you have them swapped in your design.
• The I2C EEPROM is not required for default hub applications, it is optional.
• The pullup on TEST should never be populated.

1. DP & DM swapped now.

2. Change it to DNP,

what is 1.1V and 3.3V voltage rail supply currents maximum?.

please let me know, un used pins(4,5,6, 8) shall i left open?.

also please have look on other signals pullup & pulldown.

Overcurrent and pwron are not required for hub operation.  Fullpwrmgmtz should be pulled high if power manangement is not implemented.  USB-IF requires exposed USB ports to enable overcurrent reporting, this is not a concern for closed system applications.

Datasheet will list the max power consumption for the hub.

I have confirmed the other pin settings are valid.

PWRON / OVRCURz can be left unconnected - pullups can be placed on OVRCUR if system is noisy (there are internal pullups too).

Yes, that is correct.  Putting the hub in SMBUS programming mode could raise the power consumption higher than that, but you are not using that mode.

Regarding TUSB4020BIPHPRQ1,

1. Should it be  follow the Power sequence for VDD3V3 & VDD1V1?, is it compulsory?.

2. if yes, what will be the power sequence. i am using below ckt for HUB reset.

Power up sequencing can occur in any order if an external active reset circuit is used.
