TPS25830A-Q1: RBUS resistance

Part Number: TPS25830A-Q1

Hello team,

I'm referring the datasheet P.37,

It recommends RBUS=10ohm for the current limit with external MOSFET.

It recommends RBUS=100ohm for the Buck average current limit.

Can you please let me know the reason why the RBUS resistance is different for each case?

Thanks,

Yuta Kurimoto

  • Hi, Yuta-san,

This resistor is used for short to battery protection. When use external FET, there're less caps on VBUS, 10 ohm is enough to limit the current. When use average current limit, there're more caps on VBUS/CSN pins, and it need bigger resistor to limit the current.

If you want to know more detail about it, please move this thread to internal E2E so that I can explain more. Sorry I forget to how to set it internal.

    Regards,
    Bob
