TCAN1043-Q1: INH cannot get Hi from the CAN-BUS wake signal

Part Number: TCAN1043-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN1043

i have some accidental case about INH can not get Hi with the active CAN-BUS in the car . so the ECU  can not  be wakeup . if i reset the  car batery ,the ECU will be work.

it is sure the CAN-BUS is active and vusp is 12V.

i want to know which conditons will caused it.

and how to improve this.

thanks

  • Hi Xiangxu,

The INH output will only be off (low) when TCAN1043 is in sleep mode or underpowered. Here it sounds like the device is properly powered and was put in to sleep mode. But a wake up pulse (WUP) on the CAN bus does not wake the device. This is not expected behavior for the device under normal conditions.

    • Please confirm that the activity on the CAN bus meets the requirements for a WUP (see datasheet Section 9.4.6.1). If you can capture scope shots of the active CAN bus, we can help confirm this.
    • Please confirm that Vsup is supplied by proving the voltage at the IC pin. If possible, please include this voltage on the scope shots of the CAN bus.
    • What is connected to the INH signal in this design? Is it possible to share a schematic? This can be done through email if necessary. See my contact info in my E2E description by clicking my name.

    Eric Schott
