TMDS251: Can I swap A-B inputs and Y-Z outputs?

Part Number: TMDS251
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TFP401

Given these signals use TMDS, is there any internal processing within the TMDS251 that requires the correct polarity of the A/B : Y/Z : p/n signals?

For the TX IC (SiI1136) and the HDMI connector I am using the signal ordering is a little inconvenient and I could retain short tracks between these components if I am able to swap the polarity consistently?

Similarly, though less important, can the clock and TMDS 1 & 2 signals be moved around, again if consistency is retained?

  • you can swap P/N on both input and output of TMDS251 , but P from source should routed to P on HDMI connector.

You can move around for TMDS251, but can not move around from source to the HDMI connector.. it means clock form source to clock on connector, data 1 from source to data 1 of connector.

  • Many thanks for your reply. I thought this might be the case. I was aware that clock, D0-2 must go from the source to the connector appropriately. The fact the ordering within the TMDS251 is not critical is most useful and saves a rats-nest of tracks.

I'm also using the TFP401 and this pinout is in alignment with the default pinout of the TMDS251. Is this ordering a TI thing?
