DS125DF410: Design help with PS

Part Number: DS125DF410
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62913

Hi Experts,

Good day.

Client would like to use the DS125DF410 on their design at 6.25 or 10.3125 Gbps data rates. Below is their queries.

#1
About the single 2.5-V ± 5% Power Supply,
Does TPS62913 (with output Ferrite Bead Filter) could be a good part for it ? In term of ripple and noise?

#2
The TPS62913 will be used to power three DS125DF410; as one ethernet retimer takes max 610mA, max of 1.8A current supply.
Or does DS125DF410 required an LDO only for this power?

For your guidance.

Thank you.

Regards,
Archie A.

  • Hi Archie,

    1) Based on the ripple measurements shown in the TPS62913 datasheet, this appears to be a good part.  However, ripple and noise will vary depending on your component selection and layout of the TPS62913.  Please ensure that your ripple and noise meet the specifications below.  I would recommend simulating your DC/DC converter design.  Using Webench for simulations is generally a good starting point. There are also PSpice and SIMPLIS models of the TPS62913 for more in depth simulation.

    2) As long as you are able to meet the supply noise tolerances (shown above) and 2.5V± 5%, TPS62913 should work fine.

    Thanks,
    Drew
