SN75114: schematic review

Hello Guys,

Good day.

Our customer is using SN75114D and SN75115D. Using these ICs, he built a halfwave transceiver circuit. He wanted to know if anything will happen when 2 Drivers o/p and receivers i/p were shorted.

Please verify if the attached circuit design is okay.

I think connecting 1 driver (differential signal) to 1 receiver is more common. What's the reason of shorting two driver and shorting two receiver? To get larger Voh/Vol? I have never tried this myself. Based on the fact that two driver has same polarity and receiver input is high impedance, I assume the circuit still work fine.

Correct me if I am wrong, but when you say halfwave, this means you are only driving the bus? Halfwave does not equal half-duplex? Regardless, this device should be able to take in a logic level signal and output a RS485 signal.
